Jilly’s team worked with the Local Government Association arranging a conference in the West Midlands in the 2007 European Year of Equal Opportunities for All.
During this year, Jilly worked for the national implementation body of the European Year in the UK, the European and Human Rights Commission and took the lead for one of the partners, the Equality and Human Rights Commission. In this capacity, she was responsible for a joint event that the LGA organised together with the Government Office for Equalities on the impact of equalities policies for local authorities in the UK.
Speakers at the conference included Trevor Phillips, Head of the Commission and Barbara Follett, Deputy Minister for Women and Equalities.
Heleen Jalvingh, Local Government Association, European and International Unit said:
This turned out to be an extremely successful co-operation, especially thanks to the efforts of Jilly. It was a high level national conference with senior local government representatives from all over the country. In addition to her enthusiasm, sense of humour and motivation, she was extremely well organised and structured. She handled most of the organisational parts of the event and was able to give us the confidence that the event would be a very good one.
Jilly’s confidence was well founded. The event was covered by the national press and the feedback was excellent. Jilly and her team were responsible for a large part of this success, thanks to her hard work and extensive experience of these types of big events.
I hope to work again with Jilly in the future and wish her the best of luck with Events with the Edge.
